Bad Movies Beware!
This one was suggested to me by my brother, who also has a habit of seeking out the worst movies ever made.
I’m a fan of Shaun of the Dead, and this one has the same brand of offbeat British humor mixed with blood, gore and ignorant violence.
Neil, Mikey, Graham, Patrick, and Matt set off to the remote town of Moodley for a weekend of drinking and carousing in an attempt to cheer up Vince, who is down about his divorce. They arrive via a bus driven by a girl named Candy only to find the place deserted.
It isn’t long before they find traces of carnage and mayhem that lead up to a run-in with the local ladies of the town-who are now flesh-eating zombie-creatures. Candy is also infected, and chases them when they try to get back on the bus.
They end up trapped in two shops: Vince and Matt in the toy store and the others in a ladies clothing shop along with a marine whom they rescue and interrogate for answers.
After a few attempts to escape, the most successful involving a remote-control truck and three of them dressing in drag, they all end up in the local church where they find out that the women in the town were infected with a virus via laundry detergent. The virus was intended to turn one half of the population against the other half.
The church proves as only a temporary safe haven, and they are forced into the streets and back to the bus, barely escaping before the marine and a few other members of the group are taken out. As they leave, they are called back by a friend thought dead. They return to take on the horror and rescue their comrade.
If you liked Shaun of the Dead, you will love this movie. The one-liners are great and dead on without being hokey, and it still has the same dry and sarcastic humor that the Brits love so well. The writing draws you in early, and some of the jokes are unexpected, which makes it all the better. Give this movie a look!
